Barcelona has a very diverse population, a mixture of tourists, students and locals, something that's reflected in the city's nightlife. Whatever your interests or musical taste, you're sure to find something in Barcelona.

There are four main areas to the city, all of which offer a distinctly different nightlife experience. Firstly there's the Barri Gòtic & Las Ramblas area. Known as the 'Gothic Quarter' it is located in the centre of the city's old town. The medieval architecture attracts a lot of tourists and visitors, but be warned; the centre is known as a haven for pickpockets.

To the north of the city is L'Eixample, an area that has an abundance of great bars and clubs. However if you are planning to visit more than one you may have jump in a taxi, as the bars tend to be separated by quite some distance. This area attracts a mixed age group and is extremely popular with the local gay community.

Port Olímpic stretches along the Olympic yachting marina; it is packed with fashionable bars and clubs. Some of which have large terraces, ideal for those long warm summer evenings.
