Barcelona is certainly one of the most cosmopolitan and fashionable cities in Europe. For this reason it is filled with shops offering all the best designer brands. These include anything from clothing to furniture, whatever you want you're sure to find it here in Barcelona. The main shopping area stretches from the top of the Ramblas, through Placa Catalunya, all the way to Avenue Diagonal. Over five kilometres of back to back shops, there's even a bus service, (T1 Tombbus) to help shoppers traverse the distance from one end to the other. The winter sales start around the 10th of January and summer sales around the 5th of July. |

| For those looking for a bargain, you're sure to find one at the local markets or mercadillos. Different areas have a different day that they hold their markets on. Plaza Les Glòries Catalanes in Els Encants Vells holds a second hand market on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It starts at 9 in the morning and stays open till 4 in the afternoon. As a general rule, the earlier you go the more chance you have of finding a bargain. On Thursdays you can find antiques at the Plaça Nova and on the first and third Friday of the month, you can buy confectionary at Plaça de Pi. |
